Xeneva, a deep-tech startup run by a team of two young college students, aged 18 and 24, announced the development of India's first operating system built from scratch with its own custom kernel and architecture. The new OS, designed for a new era of computing, is poised to offer a secure, indigenous alternative to the foreign technologies that currently power the nation's digital infrastructure.

This move comes at a crucial time for the nation, with recent incidents like the disruption of services to Nayara Energy due to international sanctions publicly exposing India's reliance on foreign technology. With its "Made in India" core, XenevaOS is a direct response to this national problem, providing a secure, indigenous platform that can ensure digital independence, security and sovereignty.

"We at Team Xeneva believe that India needs its own set of native deep-tech technologies instead of relying on global giants and what they provide. XenevaOS is a step towards achieving that feat." said the duo in an interview.

The project is led by a duo of two young minds looking to drop out of their college at anytime : Ayushmaan Bora, an 18 year old student entrepreneur who oversees the business and management of the project and is primarily responsible for the execution of their product. On the other hand, there's 24 year old Manas Kamal Choudhury who happens to be a final year college student and is the mastermind behind their custom kernel. He's responsible for the technical development of XenevaOS from the ground-up.

Taken from an interview - "The solution to our first problem i.e., India relying mostly on global giants - is to start building native deep tech industries which not only function as regional technologies but also cater to the global & international markets."

The duo believes in boosting India and that India should have more deep tech resources, but apart from that, they are not constraining themselves to just India. In the global prospect, XenevaOS is internationally the first OS to have a kernel and architecture designed with native XR (AR/VR) support. What this theoretically helps them achieve is bringing a full fledged smartphone replaceable OS to the form factor of our everyday glasses and not heavy, bulky headsets.

The company has a clear roadmap, with a public beta launch scheduled for this November. This release will serve as a crucial milestone, demonstrating the OS's capabilities and inviting developers, hardware partners, and the nation to join the mission.
